North Shore Junior Women's Club- GFWC

Club Update

Posted in NEWS,Service,Uncategorized by North Shore Junior Women's Club on April 14, 2022

Want to learn what is going on with the North Shore Junior Women’s Club? We have been posting a bit on our Facebook page in recent years, rather than here on this site. We also have a private group page on Facebook where we share ideas and photos, and plan events and service projects. Click here to go to our Facebook page.

Like so many groups, we found new ways to connect with each other during the pandemic, from Zoom meetings, to “Secret Sunshine,” to outdoor and spaced gatherings. In spite of that, we still found time to do service projects and collections, donate to local groups, and — of course — still found time to craft! See this photo of a zoom origami effort for Valentine’s Day!

Congrats to all on our successful fundraiser for Girls on the Run of Greater Milwaukee! After much effort, we all enjoyed a great evening while we raised $6700 for Girls on the Run. The event called Dance the Night Away included dancing, great food and drink, a cork pull, silent auction and more. Thanks to the many local individuals and businesses that contributed to our efforts and the money will be used by Girls on the Run to purchase equipment for girls who participate in the program.  The program is more than running; it provides girls with guidance on good health and making smart choices.

Girls on the Run of Milwaukee

Posted in Uncategorized by karenmathu on February 29, 2012

Yay!! Our club is excited to be raising money for Girls on the Run of Milwaukee. We are planning an event for Saturday night, March 31, 2012 called Dance the Night Away. The evening includes live music, dancing, great food and drink, a cork pull, silent auction and more. Tickets are $40 and are available through any of our members or email us

Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident. They combine an interactive curriculum and running to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. The curriculum addresses many aspects of girls’ development – their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. Lessons provide girls with the tools to make positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent behaviors.

The Milwaukee council has about 10 locations this Spring for young girls. Each location is run by a volunteer head coach and they meet twice a week for about 10-12 weeks. They focus on a series of lessons, and train to run a 5K race. Click here for more info about Girls on the Run of Milwaukee.

We hope you can join us on March 31, 2012. Click here for the invitation to Dance the Night Away.
